Job Description

CACI is seeking a talented Purchasing Specialist to join Ascent Vision Technologies (AVT) in Belgrade, MT. AVT is a fast-growing technology company that is a global leader in counter unmanned aerial systems, high-tech camera systems, and software development. AVT manufactures best-in-class gyro-stabilized gimbal systems designed for a wide variety of ground, maritime, and aerial-based applications. We specialize in fully integrated solutions for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and counter drone operations for the defense and aerospace industry. Our pioneering systems are supporting airborne, ground and maritime missions around the world.

The Purchasing Specialist will work closely with the production manager to purchase materials for the manufacture of AVT’s gyro-stabilized gimbal systems. Additionally, this individual will work with the project managers and engineers to purchase highly technical components for AVT’s integrated systems.

The Purchasing Specialist will:

  • Use a variety of software applications to track purchase requisitions, generate purchase orders, and manage inventory

  • Work with the engineers and manufacturing technicians as a critical part of the manufacturing process

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors

  • Use high attention to detail to manage large volumes of information and make fiscally responsible decisions on a daily basis

The Purchasing Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Use purchasing software systems to prepare and issue purchase orders accurately with knowledge of correct pricing, specifications, and delivery requirements

  • Review all purchase orders, requisitions and quotes for applicability, correctness, and compliance

  • Work with AVT’s accounting department to follow up on invoices and past-due purchase orders

  • Utilize material resource planning (MRP) software and departmental purchase order requisitions to generate purchase orders to meet production schedules

  • Work closely with AVT’s Department Heads to determine optimal inventory levels and order quantities

  • Work directly with Engineering and Program Managers to clearly communicate procurement delivery schedules including delays

  • Manage and coordinate multiple purchases and work with department heads to establish purchasing priorities

  • Secure and evaluate quotes for materials and services and negotiate price, quality, terms and delivery with both existing and new vendors

  • Maintain relationships with current vendors

  • Track and report on vendor performance metrics

  • Take a proactive approach to purchasing and continued process improvement for purchasing policies and procedures

  • Understand and adhere to all business ethical and compliance policies

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in materials planning, scheduling, production purchasing, sourcing or procurement in a production environment

  • Proficient working knowledge of purchasing related software applications, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, including spreadsheet creation, manipulation, calculation and reporting

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demands (email, phone, walk-ins) in a professional and calm manner with demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to handle and manage multiple data streams as they relate to purchasing needs

  • Ability to manage and exceed at delivering on multiple high priority tasks

  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills

  • Must be flexible and adaptable to growth and continually evolving requirements

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. May also use a degree from a from two-year college or technical school

  • 3-5 years of experience in materials planning, scheduling, production purchasing, sourcing or procurement in a production environment

  • Thorough understanding of inventory control practices and concepts

  • Familiarity with engineering bill of materials and assemblies and how they are constructed

  • Ability to provide accurate and timely information

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of supply chain management

  • Preferred experience purchasing both domestic and international
