The Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) is a 29 monitored bed unit. The Cardiac Observation Unit (COU) is a 6 monitored bed unit. The primary patient populations in these units have cardiac, vascular, or thoracic disease processes. We care for a wide range of patients including post-op cardiac, thoracic or vascular surgery, acute coronary syndrome, chest pain rule out, stroke (CVA), advanced heart failure including LVAD's, arrhythmia diagnoses, post-procedure cardiac patients following heart cath, EP studies, ablations or device placements. CVU also cares for trached/chronic ventilator patients. The CVU is an inpatient status unit and cares for the more complex long-term patients. The COU is an observation unit designated for those patients who will have a short stay in the hospital with a targeted discharge time of 24-48 hours. All staff hired to CVU/COU will eventually work in both areas.
Under general supervision, utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, and theoretical/clinical skills in the promotion/maintenance of health. Incorporates evidence-based nursing practices consistent with national standards and which support quality outcomes. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care. Directs the plan of care while maintaining professionalism.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
Healthcare Provider CPR Certification required
Current Montana state license as a Registered Nurse required

Associate (or Diploma) RNs hired into this position must commit to completing their Bachelor of Nursing degree within 4 years of their date of hire. Billings Clinic will help support the cost through financial assistance.
