This position requires individuals to perform a variety of duties in the Airport Operations Division, which includes both Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) and Airfield Maintenance (AFM). Specifically, this individual must have the knowledge and ability to perform airport and aircraft rescue firefighting operations by responding to incidents and accidents that may involve fire suppression, life/property loss, hazardous materials, mass casualty, and many other emergency services. General duties also include the repair and maintenance of all Airport grounds, buildings and facilities, snow removal, dirt work, grass mowing, pavement maintenance, painting, equipment repairs, and general housekeeping/cleaning. Annual training/testing on numerous subjects is required, to include firefighting and medical response, Airport and FAA regulations, Airport security, equipment operation, and many others. The individual must be able to operate a variety of light/heavy motorized equipment and power tools. Specialized skills related to any of the items listed above including experience performing aircraft, structural or wildland fire fighting, emergency medical services, snow removal, and operating heavy equipment would be beneficial to obtaining this position. The successful applicant will be exposed to cold, heat, noise, outdoor weather, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical and electrical hazards.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, a Federal fingerprint-based criminal history background check, and a driving records check.
Work Schedule: Variable and rotating shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Airport is open 24/7/365; therefore, this position is on-call and must be able to respond within 60 minutes for aircraft emergencies, operational issues, and snow removal.
Salary: $22.62/hour plus excellent benefits and the potential for overtime and standby pay. Current hourly wage tops out at $30.31/hour.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• High School diploma or GED
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License within one year of employment
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class B, Type II Commercial Driver's License with airbrake and passenger endorsements within ninety (90) days of employment
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
• Two years of experience with Aircraft Rescue, Structural or Wildland Fire Fighting
• One year of construction, facility maintenance, snow removal, with experience operating light/heavy equipment
