Rocky Mountain College (RMC) invites applications for the position of Area Coordinator. The Office of Residence Life at Rocky Mountain College is committed to providing a safe and secure living and learning environment that encourages the pursuit of academic success, contributes to personal growth, and fosters responsibility to community.The Area Coordinator position at RMC is a 12 month live-in professional who has responsibility for developing and administering a comprehensive residence life program for approximately 250 to 300 residential students. The Rocky Mountain College Residence Life program provides a residential experience for approximately 500 students in four residence halls. The residence life staff is comprised of two area coordinators, two assistant residence hall directors, 16 to 20 resident assistants, 5 to 10 night monitors and the Director of Residence Life.PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Overall responsibility for 2 residence halls of 250 to 300 total students. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff. Coordinate the administrative functions of a residence hall community, which include: facility management, maintenance, record keeping, student employment, and student conduct. Ensure student safety and provide students with clean and comfortable residence hall facilities. Provide leadership in promoting an atmosphere within the residential community that supports academic achievement and fosters responsible decision-making. Coordinate community and student development through social and educational programming. Provide advice and counsel for individual students, student leaders, and student groups. Participate in an on-call duty system. Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees. In addition, the position is responsible for professional and effective communication with students, parents, staff, faculty, and members of the campus community. Summer responsibilities include supporting the camps and conferences, summer swim lessons, and summer student housing functions.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; two or more years of progressively responsible experience in residence life or higher education required. This is a 12 month live-in position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to community and student development; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; have working knowledge of computer applications such as CampusVue, Microsoft Office and Google Drive; and be able to understand and operate all electronic assessments and applications used in student life.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in supervision of staff and management of a community living facility. Successful administrative experience.
