CITY OF BILLINGS ARFF / AIRFIELD MAINTENANCE WORKER in BILLINGS, Montana

The City of Billings is recruiting for an ARFF / Airfield Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of duties involved in the repair and maintenance of airport grounds, buildings, facilities, and related equipment; and to train in and respond to aircraft and other airport emergencies. The Airport is a federally regulated facility under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and as such, must comply with safety and operational regulations contained in CFR Title 14, Part 139. Duties and Responsibilities: - Acts as a lead during incident command. - Train in and respond to aircraft and other airport emergencies. Training includes but is not limited to; ARFF vehicle operations, emergency response, suppression operations, aircraft rescue operations, EMS operations, hazardous materials operations, and wild land firefighting operations. - Perform various types of inspections in accordance with FAA regulations that include; airfield, snow and ARFF vehicles. - Perform a variety of duties involved in Airport Security in accordance with applicable TSA, FAA and other Federal, State, and local regulations. - Train in and respond to weather emergencies including but not limited to snow, wind, and rain in accordance with FAA and applicable rules and regulations. - Operate a variety of light and heavy motorized equipment and power tools. - Perform a variety of duties involved in the repair and maintenance of airport buildings and facilities including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, welding, fabricating, and custodial work. - Perform a variety of duties involved in the repair and maintenance of airport grounds including airfield weed control, snow removal, pavement maintenance, painting, maintenance and repair of airfield lights and navigational aides, design and installation of landscape systems, fence and gate repair and installation, and general grounds keeping. - Maintain records of activities related to inspections, training and airport emergencies in accordance with FAA and applicable rules and regulations. Required Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Must possess a Montana Emergency Medical Technician license or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. - Must have a valid Montana Class B, Type II commercial driver's license with airbrake and passenger endorsements or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, Federal fingerprint-based criminal history background check and a driving records check. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: - Two (2) years' experience related to Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, structural or wildland fire fighting. - One (1) year construction, facility maintenance, snow removal experience, with experience operating light and heavy equipment. Work schedule varies. Full time. Salary: $24.0021 - $26.4884 per hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 2 of a 7-step pay scale.
