YELLOWSTONE COUNTY-HUMAN RESOURCES DETENTION OFFICER in BILLINGS, Montana
FUNCTION:Full-time position which performs routine supervisory work in the safekeeping of prisoners in custody at the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility. Protects the well being of prisoners, overseeing them at meals, at activities and in their quarters; does related work as required. The Detention Officer is a uniformed civilian staff position which performs responsible law enforcement work involving a variety of duties to control and supervise the activities of persons incarcerated in the County's Detention Facility. Because work is performed in close proximity with persons charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, the work involves an element of personal danger.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Graduation from high school or equivalent;- Must meet minimum age requirements- Process will involve a written test, oral interview, background investigation and physical agility testing.- Applicants will be notified by mail of testing date and time.- Successful candidates will receive on the job training.- Law Enforcement Academy (4 week training program) will be provided within the first year.Sheriff's Office Employment Statement: Any individual with a felony conviction, a domestic violence conviction or outstanding warrants is ineligible for consideration for employment by the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office.Equal Opportunity Employer.
