CITY OF BILLINGS FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPPORT I in BILLINGS, Montana

The Facilities Maintenance Support I (Library) performs routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned facilities and grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, walls, windows, sidewalks, restrooms, work areas, break areas and public access areas of public buildings. Duties include removal of waste materials and collection of recyclable materials. Duties may include being observant of potential safety and security problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, floor sweepers, carpet cleaners, polishers, high-pressure washers, kaivac cleaners as well as hand cleaning supplies to maintain facilities. - Safely uses cleaning chemicals, some of which may be caustic or may produce toxic gases if improperly mixed with one another. - Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling to proper collection locations. - Removes snow from sidewalk areas and parking facilities and ensures that ice conditions are treated. - Waters plants in the immediate outdoor areas when applicable. - Cleans break areas. - Cleans and maintains supplies in restrooms. - May order department supplies in order to maintain a working inventory, preparing purchase orders for replenishment. - Receives janitorial supplies and stores them in designated areas - Observes burnt out lights and either repairs them or reports them to maintenance staff for correction. - Observes unattended packages left in the facility and calls for assistance if there is a possibility of a hazard. - Monitors all building systems as directed and calls trained maintenance staff. - May provide routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions. - Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications and Skills: - Must have the ability to follow basic written instructions and simple diagrams. - Six (6) months of custodial and/or security experience, or equivalent. - Must have the ability to answer basic questions in a courteous manner. - Must be able to pass a Federal fingerprint based criminal history background check. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent. Work Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and Saturday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Salary: $15.3475 - $16.9332 per hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 3 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring is dependent upon the applicant's training and experience. Equal opportunity employer.
