Grounds Maintenance Mechanic

Shift: Day, Evenings, Nights, Weekends
Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $19.68 - 24.60
Responsible for providing preventive maintenance and repair on all grounds maintenance equipment. Maintains grounds, outside building and rental properties within established standards. Directs and prioritizes work performed by outside contractors. Is responsible for independently identifying general outside campus needs and work prioritization.
Essential Job Functions
•Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
•Maintains oversight of vendors, contractors and suppliers as necessary to ensure snow removal, lighting repairs, outside building maintenance (i.e., cleaning outside walls, sealing brick surfaces, etc.) and rental property repairs are done as required or requested.
•Maintains irrigation sprinkler systems for all Billings Clinic properties in accordance with established standards.
•Operates all equipment related to ground maintenance including but not limited to lawnmowers, snowplows, aeration equipment, sprayers, air compressors, etc.
•Develops and maintains preventative maintenance programs for all grounds equipment and ensures quality, reliable operation of related equipment. Monitors preventative maintenance service contracts maintaining appropriate records and logs as needed. Performs maintenance and repairs on all equipment as needed.
•Responsible for rental properties, performing basic maintenance of all systems including minor plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, etc.
•Ensures and participates in maintaining clean, organized work environment in all storage areas and areas of responsibility.
•Ensures grounds for Billings Clinic are maintained according to Billings Clinic standards including the removal of all garbage (cigarettes, gum, etc.) from grounds.
•Estimate equipment, parts and materials necessary to complete assigned work and process requisitions. Ensures parts and materials are issued properly and efficiently utilized.
•Participates in developing recommendations regarding replacement of existing equipment, purchase of new equipment and hiring of outside contractors.
•Member of STAT team, fire brigade and disaster team.
Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.
•Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
•Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
•Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
•High School graduate or equivalent
Experience
•One (1) year work experience or training in the proficient operation and maintenance of grounds maintenance related equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct equipment problems.
•One (1) year work experience or training in operation and maintenance in plumbing and pump systems and controls for landscaping and irrigation systems, current Montana Drivers License
•Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
