This manager is responsible for the day to day operations, hiring, orientation and education oversite for the unique population of Pediatrics and Specialty Pediatrics. Financial and budget development, annual evaluations and discipline. This RN will also play a key role as a member of the Team for Strategic Planning that aligns with the organizational plan for the future. Some clinical Pediatric background/knowledge would be an advantage. >Provides nursing leadership for the development, and advancement of nursing within the assigned areas which includes Professional Development, Community Training Center, Nurse Residency Transition to Practice program and Simulation Lab. Leads the professional development of clinical staff through the development of competencies, orientation, regional trainings and other opportunities identified in collaboration with key stakeholders. Manages the placement of clinical students and introduction of new graduate nurse residencies. Supports professional practice advancement by providing continuing education (including Credits) career advancement opportunities and role support, and other various professional development activities. Manages the daily operations of the Professional Development department and the daily practice of the Simulation Coordinator, Community Training Coordinator and the Nurse Residency Coordinator. Accountabilities include quality of services; sho rt and l ong range planning to achieve goals and objectives; fiscal control; physician and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations; personnel management, and customer relations. Essential Job Functions • Develops and oversees department cost centers to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies. Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic. Responsible for promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of Billings Clinic’s Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program. • In collaboration with physician leadership and other medical staff, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short and long range plans, and leads, develops and revises programs which enhance department services. • Develops, implements and maintains a service delivery model for the ar ea accountability & \#x2022; Develops and maintains community relationships as it relates to the continuum of care • Participates in the development of patient care delivery models and/or care programs, nursing policies and procedures th at describe how patient care needs and/or patient populations receiving nursing care are assessed, evaluated and met. • Participates in the development and implementation of Billings Clinic’s plans for providing nursing care to patients. Participates in the implementation of an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care. Monitors compliance to the plan. • Promotes a learning environment that empowers nurses to provide safe, reliable, patient-centered nursing care that is effective, compassionate and efficient. • Maintains appropriate skill/knowledge of application and patient relevance of commonly used equipment specific to area; pharm acological application; application of laboratory values with disease process or physiological status. • Leads department in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities. Coordinates with nursing leaders in pursing service line/ organizational goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution. • Markets and promotes programs and services to both internal and external healthcare providers and community members. • Supports community education and awareness by conducting public education programs, participation in health fairs and other events. • Promotes the value of health care provided by the organization by creating effective public relations programs to differentiate and promote the services provided • Develops, implements, and maintains a realistic, cost-effective annual budget. • Manages donated funds, grants and contracts appropriately • Enhances op erational effectiveness, e mphasizing cost containment and enhancing patient access without compromising quality of care or patient safety • Monitors periodic financial statements by measuring the relevant business activity and financial position o f the assigned areas and the organization to ensure appropriate financial management • Develops and presents financial analyses by employing a variety of techniques (modeling, forecasting, benchmarking, cost/benefit analysis, etc.) to enhance understanding and improve decision making • Establishes a system of controls by designing and enforcing checks and balances to minimize the risk of financial loss • Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within the department. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance an d ensures compliance of nurs ing department and staff. • Adheres to patient safety standards and identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate action. • Champions and shares the practice implications o f nursing research and evidence based practice. • Leads assigned areas in compliance with all legal, regulatory and/or accreditation standards or guidelines and ensure quality of care standards are adhered to. • Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing the goals and objectives of Billings Clinic. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/services. scope of services provided will encompass age groups ranging from infant through geriatric • Establish and maintain effective working relationships • Interpret policies and procedures; identify non-compliance and take appropriate action • Utilize time management concepts to maximize time effectively • Work independently • Maintains flexibility to adapt to a variety of workload assignments • Concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care, resolving patient/resident care problems and dealing with patients/re sidents and their families, while working with frequent interruptions and competing priorities • Decisions impacting human resource management may have legal implications • Decisions concerning patient/resident care can have impact on service line and quality of care • Decisions regarding budgeting and fiscal control have direct impact to the financial viability of the organization • Resourcefulness in dealing with emergency situations • May be required to work in varied areas of the organization for varying periods of time • Practices within the scope of Registered Nurse licensure Minimum Qualifications Education • Nursing (BSN) or Bachelors of Arts in Nursing (BAN) required • Masters Degree in Nursing, preferred Experienceg> • 5 years of clinica l experience in a nursing specialty area • Leadership and Nursing experience in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), preferred • 2 years of experience as a clinical educator Certifications and Licenses • Healthcare Provider CPR certification required; additional CPR certifications per established policy and individual department requirements • Current Montana licensure as a Registered Nurse • Current Montana driver’s license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles Other Qualifications • Experience in a Magnet facility preferred. • Demonstrated management/leadership and program management skills • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will b e considered Billings Clinic is Montana’s largest health system serving Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas.
