Kelly Services Mechanical Engineer in Billings, Montana

POSITION SUMMARY:

Occupation concerned with the application of principles of physics and engineering for the transmission and utilization of mechanical power; and the design, production, installation and maintenance of fabricated products, tools, machinery, and associated systems. Accessory techniques needed may be those used in electrical and metallurgical engineering. Typical specializations are mechanical power generation, transmission and utilization: hydraulics; instrumentation; controls; automotive engineering; tooling; systems engineering, research; design; testing; sales and project control.

Qualified applicant has critical project technical leadership responsibility; may plan work assignments within department; may facilitate coordination of work of engineers from other organizations or disciplines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety - conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Safety is # 1.

  • Provide Engineering support to all areas of the business, such as Production, Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Inventory, Marketing, etc.

  • Create and maintain bill of materials and manufacturing routings.

  • Create new and maintain existing part numbers.

  • Assist with reverse engineering projects.

  • Review and mark up new and existing engineering drawings.

  • Design and develop new products.

  • Assist Quality Control by checking dimensions, surface finishes, hardness and analyzing material.

  • Design and Develop production tooling.

  • Investigate warranties and failure analysis.

  • Other tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering required.

  • 2-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience required.

  • Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Fluency in Inventor (or similar CAD software) preferred.

  • Previous experience with ERP systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience or knowledge of operating CNC and manual mills and lathes preferred.

  • Experience in welding and weld design preferred.

  • FEA experience a plus preferred.
