Summary: Originates real estate mortgages and participates in related business development activities. The officer must have a thorough knowledge of lending requirements and real estate law. Perform job duties in accordance to and in the spirit of the bank’s mission statement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for real estate loans, including online loans, portfolio loans and secondary market loans.
• Complies with all bank policies and regulations
• Operating knowledge of banks mortgage loan origination system
• Have the ability to use the Encompass lending software and to utilize the FNMA DU system
• Basic knowledge and ability to use banks core operating system
• Call on realtors to develop contacts
• Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documentation to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet establishment and government standards
• Obtain and analyze financial and credit data
• Set prices for prospective mortgage loan applications
• Ensure compliance to applicable regulations and keeps up to date on all changes in real estate regulations and lending requirements
• Calls on potential and existing customers to develop new business and retain existing business
• Participate in community services
• Cross sell other bank products and services
• Attend training and bank meetings to stay up to date
• Manage loan portfolio
• Responsible for past dues, loan collection and quarterly watch list reporting on their portfolio of loans
• Backup responsibilities for consumer loan officer

Education and/or Experience Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business management or related field preferred but not required. Extensive background in financial institution operating policies and procedures, banking regulations, employee development, and public relations. Proficient computer skills including word processing and spread sheet analysis. Knowledge of PC-based teller, platform systems, scheduling software and 10-key adding machine. Ability to supervise, monitor and evaluate the work of others.
Language Skill
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Edits work for spelling and grammar. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens and gets clarification. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working Hours
This position would be classified as non-exempt. The bank’s basic workweek, in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (Federal Wage and Hour Law), shall be considered as 40 hours. Time worked over 40 hours shall be paid at time and one-half the regular hourly rate of pay to every non-exempt employee. The law permits exclusion from overtime pay all exempt employees (professional, administrative and executive employees and outside sales representatives). Hourly paid employees will be paid for the exact number of hours worked. All overtime must be authorized by an officer before the work is performed and before payment is made.
