**APPLICATION PERIOD EXTENDED** ON-CALL TRANSIT OPERATOR - Two (2) Positions Available.This position will fill-in on an as needed basis. Under general supervision, will operate a transit system bus and paratransit van over designated routes or as dispatched according to time schedule, sell passes and will collect fares. Attend to special needs of passengers including elderly and disabled passengers; operate hydraulic wheelchair platform and restraints. Promote a positive public relations image, promote ridership; greet passengers; provide information; answer questions regarding routes, regulations, and City and business locations. Perform a variety of equipment, building and ground maintenance duties including snow removal. The on-call operator must maintain a safe driving record. Must be available for shift work. This position averages 35 hours per week.Applicant must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, twist, climb, push, pull and lift 60 pounds; and be exposed to cold, heat, noise, odors, outdoors, vibration and mechanical hazards. This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing, Federal and State criminal history background check and driving records check.Salary: $16.84 per hour plus excellent benefits.Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.- Two or more years of combined education and experience, or equivalent.- Possession of a valid Class B, Type 2 commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days.- Experience with city government and knowledge of city transit operations is preferred.- Strong interpersonal skills.Equal Opportunity Employer.
