First Interstate BancSystem Operations Business Analyst in Billings, Montana

This position requires database querying and analysis skills in combination with superior communication abilities. The successful applicant will be able to collaborate with internal staff to provide reporting and critical information to support the strategic initiatives and daily operations of the bank's business lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITES include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Design, validate, and schedule queries and reports in various database and reporting environments.
Consult with decision makers to identify data needs and provide reporting to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Work closely with end users and management to evolve, improve and automate existing data processes.
Provide timely and accurate management reports to monitor portfolio & operational performance.
Provide data and support in projects relating to business development, operation, risk and other functional areas.
Develop specifications, documentation and end user materials.
Develop core understanding of the business in order to consult with decision makers and provide recommendations based on knowledge of the data and business needs.
Document and map existing and desired business processes, using a consistent process mapping approach.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education that includes Business Administration, Statistical, Mathematical, or Computer Science background is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
The successful candidate will have proven computer and database skills, including knowledge of the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), and one or more of the following database products: MS SQL Server, IBM Netezza, IBM Sailfish, or related products. The candidate must have a good understanding of relational database concepts and strong querying skills. Experience with report delivery tools, Cognos, and Tableau is preferred. Must have good organization and communication skills and is a self-starter.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Must be able to work with moderate mathematical concepts. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
