Description

Position Summary:To provide leadership, training, administrative supervision, and supervision to the Mental Health Workers and to coordinate and implement effective and therapeutic milieu services. Must possess basic philosophy of life and clinical care that is compatible with YBGR’s Mission and Values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and coaching to Mental Health Workers, ensuring that the milieu program follows YBGR policies and is consistent with YBGR treatment philosophy.

  • Ensure a safe environment for youth that allows for quality care to achieve their treatment goals.

  • Responsible for various administrative areas involving but not limited to scheduling, supervision, budgetary and fiscal matters, and other areas as assigned.

  • Collaborate as a member of the Lodge’s Treatment Team as assigned. Ensure timely, outcomes-based treatment planning documentation is submitted for all MTPR’s.

  • Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.

  • Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization.

  • Fully support and model the mission and values of YBGR.

  • Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures of the organization.

  • Take the initiative to identify problems and seek out solutions.

  • Be a professional representative of the organization to those outside it.

  • Participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with supervisor.

  • Be aware of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served.

  • Participate in required training as appropriate to the position and beneficial to YBGR

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties: Supervises operations staff, with oversight of Mental Health Workers in the assigned department. Manages subordinates as outlined in the supervisory duties below.

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of milieu, including daily operations.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Plans and directs work, ensuring that work schedules are adhered to and assigning specific duties to subordinate staff.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees. Conducts staff evaluations, job performance management (including coaching/counseling), and corrective action.

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff training and education programs are provided. Schedule and conduct regular monthly individual supervision of direct reports.

  • Demonstrates effective management of a team toward achievement of goals, including appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems

Position Requirements

Education: B.A. or B.S degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related human service field is required.. Six (6) years of professional experience in residential, youth services, or psychiatric treatment settings will be considered in lieu of a degree or combination of education and experience that is determined to be equivalent.

Previous Professional Experience:One (1) year of professional experience in residential, youth services, or psychiatric treatment settings in addition to educational requirements.

License and/or Certification:

  • License to operate a passenger vehicle

  • Successfully complete and maintain certification in identified Violence Intervention and Prevention Program.

  • CPR/First Aid

Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills

  • Leadership and staff development

  • Ability to work with youth with emotional and psychiatric issues

  • Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and build rapport with those individuals.

  • Use of computer and able to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.

Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.

Full-Time/Part-TimeFull-Time

Hiring Range Salary$782.37 - $876.25 per week ($40,683-$45,565 Annualized) depending on education and experience.

About the OrganizationYellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch was founded in 1956 and welcomed the first boy to the ranch in 1957. Today Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, a nonprofit organization, is trusted locally and nationally as a leader in the field of mental health care for children and their families.

Our Residential Treatment is located on a 410 acre, working farm and ranch located in Billings, MT. We offer a continuum of mental health services that include case management, youth mentoring, home/school-based programs and foster care in addition to residential treatment. We specialize in treating troubled youth who struggle with social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. We also have four Community Based Services locations in Livingston, Lewistown, Dillon, and Billings. With all of our locations we impact about 650 kids each day. And throughout our history, YBGR has impacted close to 10,000 youth and their families.
