The story of KLE Construction is one of family, hardship, hard work, and the love of building things. They are currently looking for a heavy civil construction Superintendent to oversee projects and coordinate employees, subcontractors, and overall completion of projects SAFELY.
What you?ll get to do as a Superintendent:
Split time between 25% office setting and 75% working physically outdoors in all kinds of weather and construction site conditions.
Assist with estimating through the review of plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, crew selection, productivity, vendor and subcontractor quotes, and desired overhead/profit.
Lead project teams including recruiting, hiring, training, delegating tasks, coaching, mentoring, teamwork, communication, and motivation.
Coordinate construction phases with Project Manager and Project Assistant to prevent delays, resolve conflicts, and ensure work is performed to specification, on schedule, and within budget
Maintain project materials, personnel, schedules, supplies, equipment, parts/repair services, locates ticket updates, cost reports, pay estimates, subcontractor and vendor payments, extra work claims, change orders, supplemental agreements, value engineering concepts, daily reports, JSAs, employee time, and change tracking.
Ensure proper use and care of equipment and enforce safe operation practices (vehicles, trailers, tools, large and small equipment etc?).
Ensure orderly job sites and enforce safety, environmental, and quality standard compliance with OSHA, General and Other Industry regulations, DOT regulations, and KLE safety manual. Assist with safety investigations as needed.
Ensure teams are meeting project goals and objectives and evaluate employee job performance.
Resolve employee issues, and if needed, work with Human Resources to prepare documentation and notifications to properly handle situations.
Who you are:
2+ years in a Superintendent role or 5+ as a Foreman
7+ years in heavy civil highway construction, mass earthwork, grading, and/or underground pipe installation (sewer, water, storm, pipeline)
7+ years reading and interpreting project plans and specifications
Proficient in PC software and systems such as Microsoft Office; PDF/Bluebeam, Emailing, Spread Sheets, Online Plan & Document Storage, HCSS or B2W
Able to perform physically demanding work on a construction site, including standing or walking on uneven ground; lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more; climbing up and down ladders, scaffolds, equipment, carrying equipment, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, etc...
Able to hear warning signals and alarms
Experience reading plans/blueprints, stakes, ability to check grades, understanding of soil types and composition, calculating slopes, percentages, and elevations, knowledge of the safe operation of various types of project equipment
You demonstrate good judgment, decision-making, and negotiation skills to serve the best financial interests of the company
You love to travel, and get that in this business, extended hours, including weekends or nights may be necessary
Even better if you:
- Have the following training and certifications: First Aid/CPR, OSHA and/or PEC Safeland, Confined Space & Trenching and Excavation, Fall Protection
