Vitalant Supervisor, Laboratory in Billings, Montana
Description As a Supervisor, Laboratory you will be supporting Vitalant's life saving mission by working with other team members and providing skilled technical oversight in the laboratory. You will get to coordinate testing of biological specimens and review testing results and quality assessment data. We're looking for someone who can: Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate performance of lab staff and personnel. Ensure completion of reagent preparation, pre-qualification, and quality assurance Conduct required competency observations and ensure complete and accurate documentation. Perform preventative maintenance, quality assurance and calibrations on equipment, identifying high complexity equipment malfunctions and troubleshooting. Supervises and performs processing and labeling of blood components and routine testing of biological samples (i.e. product, donor samples) Manages the Product Quality Control program, including completion and review of product QC record, assessments, reporting, failure investigations and corrective action/prevention (CAPA) Assists in reporting and resolving deviations (e.g., errors, quarantine, recall, equipment maintenance, reagent failures and accidents) Ensure adequate level of supplies and reagents are maintained. Participate in process improvement and budget discussions. Requirements Knowledge/ Education: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, medical technology or medical laboratory science required. Licenses/ Certifications: Certification as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist by a recognized certifying agency required or CLIA equivalent for moderate or high complexity testing required. State licensure (as required by regulations). Certification as a technologist in blood banking (BB) or specialist in blood banking (SBB) preferred. Experience: One year of laboratory experience required. Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
