YPR is committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff whose perspectives are heard and valued. An ideal candidate can work with a variety of businesses and community organizations to cultivate financial support in the form of underwriting. The ideal candidate is a multitasker who can handle a variety of tasks related to selling underwriting, maintaining client relations, and providing all the necessary documentation to ensure compliance. The ideal client will also have an outgoing personality and be able to interact with the public as a representative of YPR at station-branded events. Under the direction of the Director of Development and Major Giving, the Underwriting and Community Engagement Manager will cultivate business clients who wish to have underwriting messages on Yellowstone Public Radio in exchange for financial support. This position works within station and Corporation for Public Broadcasting guidelines to develop effective underwriting messages for business clients, maintain ongoing client relationships, provide client service deliverables, and assist in billing and tracking clients. This position also works with the Director of Development and Major Gifts to identify, plan, and implement YPR-branded events, identify community organizations that align with YPR’s mission, and attend events as a representative of YPR .DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: •Identify, develop, and cultivate underwriting business clients and solicit financial support from these business clients, including on-air messages and digital website and app space advertisements. •Work with clients to develop effective underwriting messages that adhere to CPB guidelines •Ensure ongoing relationships with current underwriting clients to meet client needs •Provide post-sale client service deliverables such as contractual sales agreements, copy/spot development, on-air schedules, print materials, event-related services, and online services •Coordinate media sponsorship trades with organizations to promote YPR in exchange for on-air underwriting support. •Assist in managing all aspects of accounting for YPR underwriting clients including billing and tracking •Assist in developing and maintaining underwriting rates and packages available •Attain a working knowledge of the operations/maintenance requirements for Allegiance Traffic System •Maintain historical records/information relative to underwriting history •Under the direction of the Director of Development & Major Gifts, identify, plan, and implement YPR-branded events •Identify community organizations and events that align with YPR’s mission •Attend YPR-branded events and represent YPR at other community events as requested •Provide necessary support for YPR events & Assist with other tasks assigned by Development Manager Required Education: • Associate degree and two years of experience in sales, radio or other media, office administration, business procedures that utilize accounting processes, and/or other experience that could be shown as relevant; OR any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job Required Qualifications:•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills •Excellent writing skills across multiple media platforms (radio, print, web, social media, etc.) •Excellent oral communication skills •Ability to foster and maintain strong and positive relationships •Self-motivated and confident in making independent decisions within specified scope of authority •Strong computer skills and comfort using Microsoft Office software with ability to learn other systems quickly •Must have a valid driver’s license Preferred Education:• Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications:• Knowledge of CPB guidelines and standards for underwriting •Experience with underwriting schedules and traffic software (Allegiance software system preferred) Montana State University Billings is committed to providing a working and learning environment free from discrimination.
