St. John's Lutheran Ministries Volunteer Services Coordinator in Billings, Montana

Part-Time Monday Friday (Flexible Hours) Summary: This position works under the general supervision of the Director of Volunteer Services to recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers in all areas of the St. John’s community. Supports the mission by creating meaningful volunteer opportunities within our community of hope, dignity, and love. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Volunteer Coordination Engagement * Assists with the recruiting, engaging, interviewing, screening, and placing of volunteers * Utilizes volunteer software and maintains accurate records. * Conducts and/or arranges volunteer orientation and training. * Coordinates with departments to plan, schedule, and assign all youth volunteer activity throughout the various areas of the St. John’s community. * Coordinates the summer youth volunteer program. * Acts as a liaison between St. John’s and community educational institutions and youth organizations. * Assists in the organization of and participates in service days, volunteer recognition programs and special events. * Assists in the creation, distribution, and promotion of volunteer marketing materials. * Contributes to organization publications and social media platforms to promote the volunteer program. * Attends recruitment fairs and other community networking meetings. * Regular Saturday and occasional evening hours are required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Volunteer Relations * Works with managers and supervisors to help resolve volunteer-related issues and carry out the responsibilities on personnel matters. * Reviews disciplinary action and may approve terminations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Safety * Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United * Identifies, reports and corrects obvious safety hazards. Follows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service *Let the Mission be your guide *Make eye contact and smile *Greet welcome each and every person *Seek out personal contact *Provide immediate service-listen act *Use appropriate body language at all times *Be gracious to each every person ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee Responsibilities * Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing. * Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations. * Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Volunteer Services. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED is required. Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred. Prior volunteer experience preferred. Prior experience working with teens preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: * Ability to develop, plan and coordinate volunteer activities and programs independently. * Ability to work under deadlines, manage time efficiently and work effectively with a variety of staff members, residents and other personnel. * Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Normal office setting. * May work in outdoor elements during service days or special events. * During Foundation events or other special occasions, hours may increase.
