If you have a passion for serving Veterans, consider becoming a Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) Administrative Assistant in Rocky Boy, Montana.GPVSC is a non-profit organization that provides safe and reliable transportation to Veterans who require assistance traveling to and from VA health care facilities and authorized non-VA health care appointments. These services are for Veterans from all military branches and all age brackets. We currently have five offices serving Veterans across the state of Montana. The GPVSC main office is in North Central Montana, in Box Elder, with four additional offices in Browning, Big Timber, Ft. Belknap and Scobey. These are highly rural areas that can lead to our Veterans having difficulty obtaining VA health care. Additional Veterans Support Services are available at our Main Office located in Box Elder (Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation). This assistance includes but is not limited to local transportation for overall daily needs, counseling services for such things as PTSD, as well as direct assistance for groceries, utilities, and temporary housing. GPVSC assists in home needs for the elderly, and provides firewood for those in need of heating, funeral, and grave site assistance for Fallen Warriors. We also have temporary employment opportunities for unemployed Veterans and Veterans just coming out of the service to help them acclimate back to civilian life.JOB OVERVIEWAt the direction of the Veterans Support Services Manager, the Administrative Assistant will assist with administering the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SFSPGP), Veterans Transitional Employment Program (VTEP), and assist with overall Veterans Support Services (VSS) activities. Provide staff support for the Transition Assistance Case Manager, Veterans Outreach Case Managers, Elderly Veterans Case Manager and Veterans Support Services Manager to assist Veterans to ensure their overall well-being is satisfactory and sufficient, and to build and maintain a quality lifestyle. Work in a manner which supports the mission of the Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC), to ensure that daily operations, procedures, and standards are maintained in accordance with federal, tribal, and state laws and regulations.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Support:Provide support and guidance to veterans in completing applications, forms and in following guidelines necessary to achieve full-time employment.Coordinate events, meetings and workshops as assigned.Represent GPVSC when attending local Veteran meetings, tribal gatherings, powwows, and other community activities.Staff Support:Answer phones and receive and screen Veterans for eligibility and placement.Coordinate and prepare for meetings and special events by assisting with registrations, payments, and confirmation, reserving rooms and arranging for refreshments and necessary equipment.Copy, sort, and distribute various documents.Send, receive, distribute, and redirect faxes, e mails and mail. Prepare bulk mailings.Maintain departmental calendars, coordinate, and confirm conference room reservation schedules for internal meetings.Maintain inventory of office supplies and place orders as necessary.Record keeping:Maintain program filing and record keeping systems, including confidential files and other related information for program needs.Keep client records and prepare statistical reports.Maintain databases by entering, editing, and retrieving data.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIESComputer literacy, in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor during difficult client interactions.Ability to display non-judgmental and empathetic listening skills.High degree of detail-oriented skill level.Knowledge and understanding of the importance of adhering to confidentiality standards.Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive work environment.
