POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Program Assistant will coordinate programs, provide one-on-one interaction with residents, and lead group activities designed to meet the individual interests and needs of the resident. Programs are intended to fulfill all aspects of wellness - psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual. This shall be done in a positive and nurturing environment. The program assistant is to assist with any other duties as required by the Program Director or Aspen Pointe administrator. Drive the bus/van transporting Hillcrest/Aspen Pointe/Birchwood residents to/from appointments and activities when needed. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Required: High School degree or equivalent. Preferred: B.A./B.S. in health related field or social science field. LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION Required: Preferred: Heartsaver CPR & AED Certification or BLS CPR Basic First Aid Training EXPERIENCE Required: Preferred: Experience driving larger vehicles. Work with adults and geriatrics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 35% Time Spent - Leads group activities in Birchwood 15% Time Spent - Preparation/organization/shopping for programs 5% Time Spent - Leads group activities in Aspen Pointe 10% Time Spent - One-on-one interaction with residents (primarily in Birchwood) 10% Time Spent - Computer work/ typing/ research 5% Time Spent - Oversees special programs on nights & weekends 10% Time Spent - Drive residents to appointments when bus driver is gone. 10% Time Spent - Tracks resident involvement in programs/additional requiest of director Warm up bus/scrape snow/ice off of bus. Look over day’s appointment schedule and check phone messages for changes. Drive bus up to front entrance and park. Fuel bus as needed. Wash outside of bus (1-2x/month). Clean inside of bus - sweep/mop/pick up trash daily. Assist residents as needed in getting to the bus and entering the bus. Once on bus, make sure resident’s seat belt is secured. Secure wheelchairs as needed. Secure walkers. Help residents off of bus and into appointment as needed. Return to Hillcrest in between appointments and assist the activity director as needed. While assisting with activities, unload food/supplies, set up, and participate in the activities. Run errands for Hillcrest managers.
