MKS Instruments Applications Engineer in Bozeman, Montana
A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As an Applications Engineer at Newport Corporation, a division of MKS Instruments, you will partner with Marketing and R&D Engineering to provide support sales, marketing, and product development of our products. In this role, you will report to the Product Line Manager.You Will Make an Impact By:
Providing exceptional customer support, on a global basis, to help sales close deals as well as support customer's technical inquiries. You will be able to troubleshoot potential system errors, replicate customer challenges and develop potential solutions in order to solve their problems. In addition, you will recommend potential systems, configure, test, and ship to the customer. You will occasionally travel to customer sites for installations and troubleshooting of their equipment. You will enhance the customer experience by creating application and technical media that promotes and supports our products. Finally, you will work closely with R&D to verify correct performance against specifications and help test and troubleshoot new designs. Key responsibilities include:
* Provides both pre-sales and post-sales technical product marketing support for the development and implementation of customer applications dealing with complex products, such as operating systems and capital equipment
* Assists sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications
* Management of a Spectroscopy Applications Lab
* Evaluation of system performance against established protocols and or existing manuals
* Makes and updates technical presentations regarding all aspects of company products
* Provides follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications to service personnel, company sales representatives, and customer's employees
* Field service and support
* Implements detailed customer installation requirements
* Travel Requirements: Up to 20% of travel is required.Skills You Bring:
You will have a proven track record of customer support and technical depth in highly specialized products. You will excel in a self-motivated way to explore problems with customers and find innovative ways to come to a solution. You will contribute to a highly technical and dynamic environment and will have the following capabilities and backgrounds.
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree OR equivalent experience in Applications Engineering
* 2+ years of related experience in Applications Engineering
* Experience with scientific test and measurement equipment
* Excellent written and verbal skills
* Detailed time and task management skillsPreferred Skills:
* Ability to read and understand engineering documentation (schematics, CAD, technical drawings, etc.)
* Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Salesforce knowledge
* SAP Knowledge
* Valid US PassportPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 70% of the time
* Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
* This job operates in a professional office environment
* Dynamic work conditions due to domestic and international travel
