Brief Position Overview
Student Success and the Office of the Dean of Students is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual for the position of Business Operations Manager ( BOM ). The individual in this position will be an integral part of the Success team and will work with students, faculty, staff, parents and off campus partners. This position will serve as the first point of contact for the office and perform many of the daily operations along with being part of a team of Division Specialists and BOMs that will bring a support network for work, processes, and engagement. This position reports to the Assistant to the VP.

Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee business operations including, but not limited to:
Human Resources:
Coordinate new employee recruitment and handle all new hire and termination procedures for both professional and student staff.
Manage payroll processes, including bi-monthly payroll reconciliation.
Maintain student staff roster to include positions and pay rates.
Fiscal Management:
Accountable for procurement of goods/services, reviewing/approving transactions, monitor expense, revenue, and receivables, requesting payments, reconciling all indices within the department, and assisting with the management of annual fiscal year budgeting activities.
Work closely with Fiscal Shared Services and central finance to ensure resources are used in accordance with university policies and procedures related to business procedures, purchasing policies and procedures, and travel policies.
Maintain appropriate inventory such as computers, and other relevant office equipment. With regular audits/updates each year.
Maintain knowledge and regular review of all business operational systems, automated processes, and related technology.
Functional Support
Provide customer service, functional and project support for the office.
Supervise student employee front desk associates.
Run reports from computer databases to gather. This is not limited to a specific office as this position may provide support for projects.
Coordinate logistics for events and projects including booking locations, handling refreshments, designing and sending invitations, handling reservations, and gathering/stuffing handout materials.
Coordinate communications (phone, email, walk-in) and on-call meetings for the office.
Produce print and digital media for the event and potentially for events and programs.
Maintain and update webpages.
Organize and maintain records in software used by the office (such as Maxient, Accommodate, MSU software platforms, etc).
Manage calendars for appropriate staff in the office.
Schedule and conduct daily meetings.
Assist the executive assistant to the vice president by providing support for projects and programs.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education and/or applicable experience.
Strong computer skills, including the ability to use Outlook, Excel, Word and database management and spreadsheet software.

Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, organizing and prioritizing large volumes of work with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality; attention to detail; while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional approach.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining replicable, detailed, and accurate operational systems and record keeping processes.
