Bozeman Health Clinical Laboratory Information Systems Specialist in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Information Systems Specialist is responsible for maintaining the information management systems that connect with the Beaker LIS as well as any lab management software in place for managing records, QC and assigned tasks. Assists the team leaders in maintenance of their department records. Deals professionally with co-workers and customers and strives to achieve a high level of customer service. Supports and maintains Lab instrument interfaces and manages ticket request. Oversees the lab component of connectivity issues with other IT modules and other EMR systems. Works as a team with other information Systems personnel to accomplish information management goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related science curriculum or Montana Licensure (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)

  • Preferred: Two years Meditech experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages the Omniassistant document control system including the maintenance, QC, Instument Tracking, and service contracts.

  • Develops and troubleshoots analyzer interfaces. Maintains appropriate ranges and decision setpoints.

  • Reviews automated work queues and worklists.

  • Manages requests for modifications and enhancements to the Beaker system. Participates in the continuing standardization and related meetings with Sanford.

  • Trains new users.

  • Organizes and supports the connectivity with out of network EMRs.

  • Develops new LIS procedures.

  • Helps identify IT needs with existing and new laboratory instrumentation.

  • Works with Sanford to select appropriate calculations and reflex rules for new procedures.

  • Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
