JOB POSTING July 27, 2018COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR/ EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT GALLATIN COUNTY ADMINISTRATION This position is responsible for directing and managing internal and external communications and public relations for Gallatin County government. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the development of the Countys internal newsletter, media message, media relations, generating media coverage for the County, news release composition and distribution, responding to, and appropriately directing, media inquiries. The position is also responsible for providing some limited technical and administrative assistance to the County Administrator including executive secretarial, clerical, administrative support, and special project functions. The position reports to the County Administrator and does not supervise other County personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position must have a thorough understanding of modern media practices and theory and be able to apply them to further the communications strategy of the County. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and online and digital media experience. Excellent customer service skills and professional decorum are required in this position. The incumbent must be able to maintain the integrity of sensitive and highly confidential information; exercise courtesy and tact in receiving the public, staff and elected officials, and in giving and obtaining information in person and over the phone; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a bachelors degree in communications, journalism, English, political science, marketing, or related field or a combination of education and experience equal to a degree. Prior government experience is preferable. Licenses and Certifications: Position must possess a valid drivers license issued by the state of Montana or attain a Montana drivers license within six months of hire and be insurable under the Countys liability policies.
