General Statement
The Compliance Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the culture of equity, compliance, safety and reporting across Montana State University.
This position, along with the Chief Compliance Officer, will coordinate university-wide compliance efforts with relevant laws, regulations, and policies including: the Jeanne Clery Act crime statistics, the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, the University’s Enterprise Risk Management program in conjunction with the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education ( OCHE ), and University Policy. They will have the opportunity to gain formal training in Clery Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management and public policy. They will be the first point of contact for phone calls and walk-ins to the office suite.
The University Compliance Office ( UCO ) strategizes and coordinates compliance efforts across Montana State University. The office responds to compliance issues, educates, and develops management and prevention strategies. The office works closely with legal counsel, compliance practitioners, and experts at the department level to assist with proactive and reactionary strategies. These strategies involve various committees, managing new and revised university policy, and others.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and support the University’s efforts around compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act including the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report..
Coordinate and support the University’s Enterprise Risk Management ( ERM ) program.
Support the UCO in managing overall university compliance with required educational training efforts for faculty, staff and students.
Assist with course development in consultation with internal subject area experts, measuring effectiveness and compliance, develop status reports, and distribute required notices.
Coordinate and support the university policy management and review process.
Serve as first point of contact for the office suite through phone calls, general emails, or walk-ins: triage requests, respond to straightforward inquiries, and forward as appropriate.
Assist in developing office systems and procedures to ensure compliance with department, university, state, and or federal policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
Act as system administrator for UCO’s policy and case management system; create and run reports, provision and train users, update interface as needed.
Assist with the updating and managing of the UCO websites; create content and maintain accessibility standards.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience providing customer service to diverse constituency.
Demonstrated experience using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of or experience in a higher education environment.
Experience in case and records management.
Experience with Microsoft Office software.
Progressively responsible experience interpreting and applying complex policies, regulations, or laws.
Demonstrated experience coordinating meetings and maintaining documentation.
