Brief Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Vice President, Information Technology, the Computer Systems Project Coordinator uses professional judgment to initiate, execute, manage, and monitor campus and enterprise-wide projects. This position is responsible for building project plans and managing resource time using project management software used by Montana State University. The project coordinator facilitates team communication, cooperation, and productivity throughout the project to create an environment of collaboration and teamwork and is responsible for driving projects to a successful business outcome.

General Statement

Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate project and status meetings throughout the project life cycle across the enterprise.
Manage and direct project work.
Prepare project status reports to stakeholders
Prepare and maintain project documentation.
Plan and schedule program phases, deliverables, goals, and milestones using PMI standards and related tools such as Gantt charts and Work Breakdown Structures.
Define Risk and Issues per project; create and execute strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
Maintain project scope effectively using a Project Change Process.
Establish and execute communication plans.
Support project intake processes utilizing MSU’s governance methodology.
Manage and track project schedule.
Work in partnership with the university Procurement structure.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Minimum of three (3) years or more of demonstrated experience in project management or coordination.
Demonstrated knowledge of PMI project management standards and best practices.
Demonstrated experience using project management software applications.
Experience leading functionally diverse teams
Demonstrated experience managing information systems projects.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Advanced degree in business, technology, or related field.
ITIL Program Management, CompTIA Project+, Prince2 PMP, CPMP, or similar project management certification.
Demonstrate experience working in the higher education industry.
Demonstrated experience with technology integration projects and specifically with Banner or equivalent ERP systems.
