General Statement

Following an integrated, collaborative model, University Health Partners unites the components of the health and well-being for MSU students including prevention, health promotion, public health, medical services, dental services, and counseling & psychological services.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functions as a clinical dietitian/nutritionist providing counseling to MSU students. This includes counseling to students who desire or need to adjust their nutritional intake for health purposes, medical management (e.g. diabetes), or those seeking to find balance in their relationship with food and body.

Collaborates with Counseling and Psychological Services staff, using interdisciplinary treatment approach for students with eating disorders. Participates as a member of FEEL team (Flexible Eating and Empowered Living) and other integrated programmatic collaborations.

In addition to clinical nutrition services, the UHP RDN will work with the Office of Health Advancement (OHA) to promote the overall nutrition health students.This may include, but is not limited to: Assessing population nutrition needs and using data to help plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate nutrition promotion in collaboration with OHA and other campus partners; recommending policies, procedures, and programs related to nutrition, based on population needs; and developing population-appropriate nutrition education materials for clients and OHA use.

Acts as an advocate for students with University Culinary Services. Refers students as needed to collaborate with the Culinary Services dietitian to meet special dietary needs and educate students about best dining hall options.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • The position requires the individual to be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). This requires a bachelor’s degree, a dietetic internship, and passing of the national exam through CDR. Continuing Education hours are required. This individual must be licensed as a Nutritionist by the State of Montana.

  • This position needs a Dietitian/Nutritionist experienced in eating disorders and preferred experience with mindful/intuitive eating and HAES (Health at Every Size).

  • Other desirable attributes are a strong counseling background, broad nutrition experience and strong communication skills.

  • Demonstrated competency with multicultural and other diverse populations.
