Brief Position Overview

This position serves as Extension communications E-Commerce and Content Coordinator and will work closely with the distribution associate and department leadership to monitor and update the content, design and functionality of the Extension website via an online content management system ( CMS ) as well as reconcile accounts, process accounts receivable and payable, and manage accounts in Extension’s webstore.

General Statement

Founded in 1893, Montana State University is a comprehensive Land Grant University with over 18,000 students system-wide with campuses in Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls and Havre. It has widespread Extension programs and is committed to the land grant mission of providing the services of the university to citizens and youth throughout the state. MSU Extension has a field faculty staff of 90 Extension Agents representing every county in the state and four Indian Reservations with 50 specialized faculty and professional staff located in Bozeman and other locations.

Program offerings include agriculture, energy and natural resources, 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences, and community and economic development. MSU Extension Programs focus on bringing university research and services to local communities via county agents with support from statewide specialists. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all E-commerce functions of the MSU Extension webstore, including subscriptions, pricing, record keeping, and data management.

  • Assist Extension budget and finance personnel with all aspects of webstore and distribution center account management and financial recordkeeping.

  • Coordinate with department leadership and other MSU Extension staff to provide routine website and webstore updates via the online content management system ( CMS ).

  • Serve as a collaborative member of the MSU Extension Communications team, assisting specialists and other MSU staff throughout the publication and promotion process.

  • Assist publications associate with management of the MSU Extension distribution center, including warehousing, publication management, and customer service.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Progressively responsible experience in consumer transactions and e-commerce, customer service, content management, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining detailed information with a high degree of accuracy, with an excellent attention to detail.

  • Previous experience with content management systems (such as, but not limited to, WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, etc.). Web design experience is NOT required.

  • Previous experience with web-based interactions with databases, database management, word processing, spreadsheet management, (MS Word and Excel) including importing information into spreadsheets, interpreting data, and communicating projections and information to others on the team.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Extension and its publications & resources.

  • Previous experience with website management.

  • Previous experience with financial management.

Physical Demands

The person in this position will be spending time moving around the warehouse, collecting products, conducting inventories by counting, and moving products from tall shelving, and requires the transportation of boxes up to 50 lbs.
