Bozeman Health House Supervisor (Casual Call) in Bozeman, Montana
Position Summary:
The House Supervisor provides leadership, coordination and integration of healthcare services and supervises safety, service and quality of care. Responsibilities include the management of patient care provided by department personnel in assigned area. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of the departmental patients in order to ensure that patients and families receive an optimum level of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)
American Heart Association BLS
American Heart Association ACLS
Three (3) years’ experience clinic or acute care experience
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Preferred: American Heart Association PALS
Preferred: Trauma Nursing Care Coordinator
Preferred: Five (5) years clinical nursing experience; previous supervisory/management experience
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates admission and transfer of patients appropriately applying InterQual criteria, makes rounds on all nursing units and assists with activities related to patient care, arranges for emergency surgery, interprets and follows hospital policies and procedures, promotes intra-departmental cooperation, provides services of other departments in their absence, completes training to follow protocol for organ donation, assigns unit staffing and assesses/monitors unit based productivity.
Promotes the goals and philosophy of Bozeman Health, acts as leader, role model, mentor and innovator, promotes team building, creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive attitude as well as a calm environment and is courteous and helpful to patients, co-workers, visitors and physicians.
Monitors unit activities, responds to customer concerns that cannot be resolved by the charge nurse/department staff, assures adequate staffing with knowledge of patient needs and unit standards, acts as liaison between physician and patient care team, activates medical staff chain of command when indicated, and exercises authority for staff disciplinary action as needed.
Refers to policy manual for specific instructions and guidelines, follows established policies and procedures, and adheres to the standards of the job description and overall philosophy of Bozeman Health.
Complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.
