General Statement

Under the general supervision of the COVID Testing Coordinator, this position provides ongoing support required for COVID-19 disease investigation. This will be a 6-12 month temporary position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the isolation of communicable disease cases and the quarantine of close contacts to communicable disease cases as needed to contain local disease and disease outbreaks;

  • Conducts communicable disease contact tracing activities;

  • Provides direct patient care and health care provider support;

  • Assists clinic providers with diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures;

  • Administers medications, vaccines and prescribed treatment procedures;

  • Conducts initial patient health interviews;

  • Prepares patients for examination;

  • Prepares and cleans equipment, exam rooms and treatment rooms;

  • Administers first aid;

  • Performs routine laboratory procedures including venipuncture and CLIA waived tests;

  • Maintains clinical and patient records;

  • Monitors supplies and medications;

  • Provides patient and family health counseling and education;

  • Schedules referrals;

  • Responds to inquiries from patients, pharmacies and other providers;

  • Participates in clinic quality improvement activities;

  • Conducts Patient triage;

  • Provides information on public health care issues;

  • May perform receptionist and clerical duties;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program and one (1) year nursing experience or part time equivalent

  • Current licensed practical nurse licensure in Montana and BLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Recent professional nursing experience in a primary care setting such as primary care medical offices, emergency medical facilities, urgent care centers, student health services, or public health departments.

  • Record of providing quality nursing care.

  • Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and clinical agency partners.

Physical Demands

  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens (Employees are provided with training and equipment that complies with OSHA requirements for a health care setting).

  • Large amount of walking, bending, occasional lifting of heavy objects.
