Experience with testing electro-optical, optical beam characteristics, frequency characteristics and noise measurements of high power diode lasers and fiber lasers. Experience with EVT, DVT and reliability of components and subassemblies for FMCW Lidar. Experience with automated test stations for laser and optical components using LabView and Python. Experienced in PDM and database for the production of laser as well as transferring new product into production.

Travel: Position requires travel 1 week every 2 months to our affiliate location in Palo Alto, CA to support reliability testing.
Job duties: The Opto-Mechanical Engineer position will develop automated test equipment for performance verification and early reliability of various product lines based on high power fiber laser and high power diode lasers. Support the fiber laser subassembly (used for amplification of transmit signal) in production and in reliability testing. Perform RMA of field returns and maintain proper tracking. Support reliability team as technical expert for root cause analysis, designing and providing automated test equipment and devices for testing. Support production through designing of automated test equipment, operator training, and documentation. Work with supplier for continuous improvement of product quality. Support the development and production transfer of the Fiber laser based transmit module, which includes high power fiber amplifiers, fiber optical components and components for light modulation. Work with supplier to revise product according to system specifications. Specify and select fiber based components specification, select vendors and drive their qualification. Plan and execute validation of all components in EVT and DVT. Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for subassemblies. Work cross functionally to plan and execute EVT and DVT testing of transmit module. Work with cross-functional to design and build automated test station for subassemblies and transmit module focusing on test software and data management. Transfer into production, provide documentation for assembly processes and test stations as well as operator training. Support production in initial set-up and yield improvements. Support research, product development and early production of the transmit module based on high power diode lasers and integrated photonics. Design and build automated test equipment for performance verification of high power diode lasers, specifically for beam quality under various operating conditions. Work with reliability team to design product specific test protocol and test system for high power diode lasers. Work in teams to verify the performance of components for light modulation and beam shaping. Work cross functionally to plan and execute EVT and DVT testing of transmit module. Work with cross-functional to design and build automated test station for subassemblies and transmit module focusing on test software and data management. Transfer into production, provide documentation for assembly processes and test stations as well as operator training. Support production in initial set-up and yield improvements.
