Duties and Responsibilities
Career Education Coaches will:
Assist students with the skills and decoding necessary to pursue their interests and aspirations using a design life career education and professional development curriculum.
Facilitate the delivery of a design life career development curriculum through one-on-one and group appointments, clinics, classroom lectures and other professional development events.
As part of the design life process, holistically serve the student with developing their professional brand, through instruction of resume writing, interviewing skills and job and internship searching.
Ensure service excellence, soundness of practice and program metrics are achieved and client notes recorded to improve student outcomes.
Career Education Coaches will also help decode important information, ideas and tactics to help students receive the full benefit of their design life career and professional development while at MSU .
As part of the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success, assist with financial literacy, arranging free tutoring, and referrals to appropriate campus services.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or a combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skills are acquired.
Experience in student advising at the post-secondary level or experience with career/professional coaching.
Demonstrated experience in program delivery and with a high degree of professionalism.
Demonstrated technical competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software & relational databases with a willingness to learn additional department and MSU specific software and programs.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s Degree, or combination of education and/or applicable experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree.
Experience facilitating and instructing small group workshops and classes.
Knowledge of trends in higher education, Human Resources, the economy and/or workforce development trends.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Maintain a fixed weekly schedule with flexibility to occasionally host events and interact with students during evenings and weekends.
