Bozeman Health Patient Financial Representative - Casual Call in Bozeman, Montana

Casual Call

Position Summary:

The Patient Financial Representative assists customers with questions regarding their bills. They are expected to know the general workings of the Patient Financial Services department, have a general knowledge of insurance billing, and be able to have conversations with patients about their financial responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • One year of previous office experience

  • Preferred: Prior healthcare clinic/hospital billing experience or customer services experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answers phone inquiries and walk-in visits from patients, family members and insurance companies regarding Bozeman Health bills. During these conversations they will be required to set up payment plans per policy, take payments, send itemized bills at the callers request and add necessary information to the account to ensure it gets paid properly.

  • Helps troubleshoot accounts when problems arise and works closely with the Claims Specialists to maximize the patients' insurance benefits.

  • Discuss the Financial Assistance Policy with patients when they are unable to meet their financial obligations. This is done by introducing the policy, encouraging the caller to apply, and supplying an application when needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple

  • Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality
