FLIR Systems Production Manager in Bozeman, Montana

This position will provide day-to-day supervision in the execution of product line production plans and be responsible for achieving production goals of new and established products. The role will assist with the planning and coordination of employees, equipment and facilities across departments to achieve overall production goals. This position will also analyze problems and implement countermeasures to improve department performance.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
A) Planning and Coordination
Interacts with Operations functions to support manufacturing, including product management, engineering, production planning, quality, accounting, and materials.
Assists in setting reasonable periodic (monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.) goals that are aligned to company results.
Plans and coordinates utilization of limited resources to execute planned production goals.
Assists in forecasting needs and requirements in order to execute long-term, quarterly, and annual production plans.
Assures that required materials are available at each work station well ahead of time; address shortage or problems early to minimize impact on production.
Leads technical thought processes and brainstorming activities to achieve specific cost reduction action plans.
Identify and isolate production bottlenecks and provide executable action plans to mitigate production risks.
B) Manufacturing Development and Support
Consistently pursue the development and adoption of lean manufacturing techniques to minimize resource requirements while maximizing production output.
Work with Quality Assurance team to identify manufacturing root cause and take all necessary actions to eliminate all identified production problems.
Constantly assess production flow & process and suggest & implement changes to improve manufacturability.
Coordinate activities as necessary to reduce materials resource variances.
Ensure that all team members and direct reports are in compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and at current revision level.
Monitors work output in terms of flow, pace and quality. Assures quality is built in to products (minimizing rework or errors) through training, team management, and motivation for quality.
Assures clear job definitions and set clear expectations for productivity, quality, and housekeeping for each employee and each work station.
Provides leadership and motivation, by example, to personnel and support functions to achieve monthly production goals. Manages all facets of manufacturing, including human resource management, inventory management, equipment and facilities management.
Provides information regarding and maintaining compliance to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
Administrates timecards, training records, performance evaluations and other management functions.
Provides appropriate work schedules and coordinates overtime for all team members.
Coordinates and makes recommendations to the hiring, development, promotion, and disciplinary actions of team members.

D) Facilities and Equipment
Assures the machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained, calibrated and documented for efficient production.
Makes recommendations to management on new equipment, or upgrades to existing equipment, that is required to maximize efficient production.
Coordinates the installation, set-up and training of all production related machinery and equipment.
E) Other duties as may be required from time to time.
Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
BS Degree in engineering, technology or manufacturing management.
Technical competency in physics and laser operation and design.
3-5 Years supervisory experience in a photonics/laser technology manufacturing environment.
