Bozeman Health Release of Information Clerk (0.9 FTE) in Bozeman, Montana
Position Summary:
Release of Information Clerk releases paper and electronic medical records in accordance with healthcare, patient, and third-party requests, following applicable state and federal laws and HIPAA regulations. Works with protected information in a conscientious manner while releasing medical records in an efficient, effective and accurate manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Customer Service experience
Preferred: Medical Records or Release of Information experience
Preferred: HIPAA experience
Essential Job Functions:
Process requests for access or release of information using the corresponding Protected Health Information(PHI)
Reproduce requested information in accordance with the authorization and/or legal requirements
Document and track the completion of each request utilizing the release of information tracking application
Greet customers and answer telephones
Assist patients with exercising their rights under HIPAA regulatory guidelines for requesting amendments, restrictions, or accountings of disclosure.
Manage electronic filing of Advance Directives, POLST, Living Will, Guardianship documents and EMR provider dictionary
Update Master Patient Index (MPI)

Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality
Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment
Detail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
