This is a part time day shift position with holiday and weekend requirements. This position is for a current ED RN decreasing FTE.
Job Details:POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY Must possess the skills and abilities to engage in the nursing process including but not limited to the assessment, nursing analysis, planning, nursing intervention and evaluation in the promotion and maintenance of the patient's health across the continuum of life. Must have the skills needed to supervise and delegate appropriate functions to subordinate personnel. Must have the skills/abilities to evaluate and ensure that the medical plan of care is carried out. Must have the educational, physical and mental capabilities to perform procedures common to their nursing unit. Must complete department specific competency validation checklists within four (4) month probationary period or as designated per topic. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Required: Current Montana Registered Nurse License Preferred: BSN LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION Required: BLS Certification (American Heart Association) as a Healthcare Provider ACLS Certification or prior to the end of the orientation period PALS or ENPC certification within 1 year of hire TNCC or within 1 year of hire NIHSS Certification or within 6 months of hire Preferred: ENPC EXPERIENCE Required: Demonstrates competence in and a willingness and ability to practice modified primary nursing. Preferred: Minimum of one year emergency nursing or critical care experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 100% Time Spent - Collects Comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation (Assessment) Collects data in a systematic and ongoing process. Involves the patient, family and other healthcare providers in data collection Prioritizes data collection activities based on the patient's immediate condition, or anticipated needs of the patient or situation Uses evidence-based assessment techniques in collecting pertinent data Uses problem solving thinking Synthesizes available data, information and knowledge relevant to the situation to identify patterns and variances Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis) Derives the patient nursing diagnoses or issues based on assessment data Validates the nursing diagnoses or issues with the patient, family and other healthcare providers when possible and appropriate Documents nursing diagnoses or issues in a manner that facilitates the determination of the expected Outcome or plan Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation Involves the patient, family and other healthcare providers in formulating expected outcomes Develops culturally appropriate expected outcomes for the diagnoses Develops expected outcomes that provide direction for the continuity of care Modifies expected outcomes based on changes in the status of the patient or evaluation of the situation Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes (Plan of Care) Develops an individualized plan of care considering patient characteristics or the situation Develops the plan in conjunction with the patient, family and others as appropriate Includes strategies within the plan that address each of the identified diagnoses or issues Provides for continuity within the plan Establishes plan priorities with the patient, family and others as appropriate Utilizes the plan to provide direction to other members of the healthcare team Implements the identified plan of care Implements the plan of care in a safe and timely manner Documents implementation and any modifications to the plan of care Utilizes evidence-based interventions and treatments specific to the diagnoses or problem Collaborates with nursing colleagues and others to implement the plan of care Coordinates the implementation of the plan of care Documents the coordination of care Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment Provides health teaching that addresses such topics as healthy lifestyles, risk-reducing behaviors, developmental needs, activities of daily living and preventative self-care. RN ADDENDUM: EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT Education Completes mandatory Netlearning during probationary period. Attends available Emergency Nursing Educational offerings. Cardiac Ability to comply with hospital policy and procedures when caring for the patient with a temporary pacemaker. Ability to comply with hospital policy and procedure when caring for the patient with an arterial line. Ability to comply with hospital policy and procedure when caring for the patient with a CVP line. Ability to assist with set-up of equipment, insertion of catheters (lines), and calibration of equipment. Respiratory Ability to comply with hospital policy and procedures related to caring for patients on mechanical ventilation. Ability to assist with endotracheal intubation and extubation. Ability to assist with management of surgical airway. Rhythm Analysis Ability to use cardiac monitors; electrode placement, lead selection, alarm adjustments, and trouble shooting. Ability to interpret arrhythmias; sinus, atrial, junctional, ventricular and associated blocks. Trauma Ability to comply with hospital policies and procedures related to caring for patients with traumatic injuries. Ability to comply with hospital policies and procedures related to caring for patients with chest tubes, needle thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis and/or open chest massage. Additional Functions - Stroke Complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with an acute stroke. Completes required stroke compentency check list or chart review annually. Participates in four hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education by November 1, 2018, or within one year of hire. Participates in two hours annually of cerebrovascular disease (stroke education).
