As a Systems Engineer II, you will provide application support for critical Windows applications, customers and projects, working closely with Development, QA, IT Operations teams and Customer Operations, as well as providing after hours and on-call support. You will respond to problems by troubleshooting and analyzing complex application, network, and multi-tiered environments, to find root cause, provide solutions, and recommend preventative measures.
When not responding to current issues, frequent tasks will include, installing SSL certificates, creating Powershell scripts, enhancing system monitoring, querying databases, analyzing system and application performance, and configuring new hardware,
You will utilize your solid communication and problem solving skills, while working in a fast paced environment, often with frequently changing priorities.
Experience (US only) and Education
1+ years of Systems Engineering experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
Apply basic problem-solving skills in multiple operating environments to support assignments involving the execution of a series of related tasks.
Apply basic knowledge of system components in completing assigned tasks (i.e., storage systems, networking basics, and Windows infrastructure).
Diagnose system performance problems.
Install or troubleshoot programs within system environments.
Perform online system functions to assist with tasks encountered in execution of daily responsibilities such as utility functions and editing of files.
Assist in the development lists/scripts for execution of commonly used processes and automation of simple tasks.
Provide prompt recovery and problem escalation for the exceptions, extrapolating and integrating information within defined boundaries, using multiple system management and problem management tools.
Assist in daily support of the systems/products assigned, through early detection and pursuit or changes in system responses or operation.
Work closely with support groups to refine system monitoring and reporting, and to assist them in their analysis and problem recovery.
Proper documentation and closure of tasks, changes, and requests.
Construct simple job control language (JCL) or scripts for processing of workloads by system.
All other duties as assigned.
Proficient with Windows Server 2008-2016,along with IIS administration
Solid grasp of networking fundamentals(LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, IPv4, ports, protocols)
Experience with relational databases and query basics (MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
Basic understanding of .Net/ASP application administration
Experience with programming and scripting languages(C#, Visual Basic, PowerShell, Bash or other)
Basic knowledge of storage systems such as Linux kernel, UNIX kernel, UNIX file system, and Windows infrastructure.
Knowledge of virtual server environments and thin client.
Experience with Change Control processes, ticketing applications and procedures
Program installation and troubleshooting
Basic problem-solving skills.
Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
Solid oral and written communication skills.
