Job Status: This is a regular status, full time position (36 worked hours/week + 4 paid non-worked hours/week in alignment with HRDC's Reduced Workweek Policy)

Wage: $21.00/hour

FLSA : Non-exempt 40 hours per week; Grade 6

Reports to : SHS Program Coordinator

Location: Bozeman and/or Livingston

Position Summary: The HRDC IX Housing Case Manager is an integral part of the Seeking Housing Services team and is responsible for supporting the delivery of case management, rental assistance, and supporting customers in their housing stabilization process. This position provides housing case management activities that include determining program eligibility, helping customers to apply for long-term housing assistance, budgeting, resource navigating, and connecting to services that encourage and develop self-sufficiency. This position may be based in Bozeman, Livingston, and/or travel between the two.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Upholds HRDC’s mission, vision, and values

  • Operates independently while working with clients and staff to assess and identify a clients needs and barriers to obtaining adequate, safe, and affordable housing

  • Conduct client intake and eligibility determination interviews

  • Assess client needs to determining appropriate housing program placement and referrals; inform clients of available services’ coordinate and support clients access to services and benefits

  • Develop relationships with local landlords and property managers

  • Demonstrate knowledge of all housing assistance programs

  • Maintain a balanced client empathy and role model healthy boundaries in relationships with clients

  • Determine program eligibility and benefit level by identifying and requesting proper documentation; accurately calculate household income and benefit levels; determine households status and process household changes as required by various funding sources; make decisions on eligibility and assistance levels

  • Performs housing inspections

  • Maintain client files, case notes, and appropriate documentation systems

  • Enter program data efficiently and accurately into required databases

  • Assist with the operation of the Housing Department’s housing programs as requested

  • Perform other duties as required by Program Coordinator/Program Manager

  • Attends all required meetings, including board, staff, and trainings

  • Checks email regularly for schedule changes, updates, and staff communication

  • Maintains client confidentiality

  • This position can operate from the Bozeman or Livingston office; travel across our service area to conduct inspections is required. Travel between Bozeman and Livingston office locations will be required as well.

    We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • The ability to analyze and interpret complex and sensitive information

  • The ability to interpret program manuals and guidelines

  • Basic math skills including the ability to calculate annual household income

  • Computer skills to navigate spreadsheets, multiple databases, email, calendar, and the willingness to learn new software systems

  • Enjoys the balance of working directly with people and completing administrative tasks related to client files

  • Is self-motivated and motivated to work with others and contribute to team environment and common goals

  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with a wide range of individuals from all socioeconomic groups

  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively manage workflow

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers

  • Ensure compliance with program requirements

  • Able to effectively disseminate information about the programs

  • Spanish speaking preferred
