Montana Tech Director, Community Engagement and Development in Butte, Montana

Director, Community Engagement and Development

DUTIES:

  • Communicate a passion for the mission of the Clark Fork Watershed Education Program and Montana Technological University programs

  • Direct resource development activities, including: fundraising, special events, prospect identification, corporate sponsorship, donor development, grant writing, recognition and stewardship activities.

  • Oversee creation of publications and collateral to support programming.

  • Identify, recruit, activate, motivate and celebrate volunteer leadership team.

  • Promote the organization’s public image as communicated through printed materials, media coverage, live presentations and internet/social media presence.

  • Focus community networking and outreach with donors, volunteers and sponsor prospects.

  • Develop, organize, and lead annual clean up days for Butte and Anaconda

  • Deliver education program delivery and outreach in peak seasons.

  • Ability to travel throughout Montana.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field

  • Minimum 3 years successful experience in marketing, fundraising, community relations or philanthropy

  • Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices and techniques

  • Ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers

  • Demonstrated ability to reach varied audiences (K-12 to adults)

  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends on occasion.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Layout and design skills

  • Public speaking—teaching in various settings

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in developing a successful philanthropy program

  • Experience recruiting, managing and cultivating high-level volunteer leadership at the c-suite level

  • Experience with grant writing

  • Experience with website management

  • Demonstrated teaching experience with K-12 audiences

  • Knowledge of the upper Clark Fork watershed history, restoration, and stakeholders.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift and carry small items up to 10 pounds

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
