About this position:

The Hydro Engineer, Project Management, is responsible for planning, design, and safe execution of capital projects for Hydro Generation. The Hydro Engineer, Project Management will work closely with the Supervisor, Project Management to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Engineer will also provide guidance and direction to employees and contractors who support the implementation of the capital projects.

    About this job:

  • Maintain exceptional safety performance

  • Provide project management and engineering to plan, design, construct, and document hydro capital projects

  • Supervise projects and oversee contract and company crews

  • Able to interact effectively with company employees, regulators, permitting agencies, contractors, and other internal departments

  • Compile and write technical reports

  • Respond to hydro plants' needs by performing field investigations

  • Ensure that project cost estimates and schedules are accurate and complete

  • Develop project-specific capital budgets

  • Assist with regulatory compliance as required

  • Monitor progress and performance of vendors providing capital project related products and services.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and identify beneficial improvements to the capital asset management program and processes

  • Occasional travel required, up to 30% including overnights

  • Perform individual lifts and manipulate items up to 35 pounds.

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good personal safety record

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Civil or Mechanical background preferred

  • Professional Engineer's License and/or ability to obtain one is preferred

  • Experience in the principles and fundamentals of Project Management desired

  • Able to work in a dynamic team environment with potentially rapidly changing priorities

  • Working knowledge and experience in civil construction, dam gate installations and turbine generators upgrades is preferred

  • Highly organized and demonstrate good oral and written communication skills

  • General knowledge of FERC and environmental regulations is preferred

  • Experience MS Project, advanced Excel skills, SAP and PowerPlan is preferred

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

  • Must pass physical test to access all areas of the hydro plants, including climbing ladders, confined and cramped wet slippery quarters and traveling rough terrain
