Instruction and Outreach Librarian

Duties:

Develop, coordinate, promote and provide library instruction services; collaborate with faculty and academic departments to integrate information literacy into the curriculum; develops instructional materials, introduce students to the library through informal one-on-one interactions and formal bibliographic instruction sessions; provide outreach to campus and public communities; work with library staff and other librarians to provide excellent reference services; serve as liaison to academic departments; work specified hours providing service at the library’s information desk including evenings and weekends; create an environment of understanding and respect with all library personnel; and fulfill other duties as assigned. Maintain and document a program of the practice of librarianship, publication and service for this full-time tenure-track position.  Newly degreed librarians are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:

  • American Library Association-accredited master’s degree

  • Experience with teaching, information literacy, critical thinking and techniques of library instruction

  • Ability to learn and teach new technologies and implement them in library instruction

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with faculty, academic departments, and other campus and  community stakeholders

  • Commitment and demonstrated ability to cooperate in a team environment and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with all library personnel

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Experience promoting or marketing library resources and services

  • Experience creating instructional materials & library subject guides
