Intern Electric Transmission Planning Engineer
Work Location : Butte, MT
Pay range : $18.00 - $19.00/hour (first year interns $18.00/hour, returning interns $19.00/hour)
Employment Status: Temporary (September - May part-time, 20 hours per week)
(May - August full-time, 40 hours per week)

About this position:
The Planning Engineer Intern is tasked with finding innovative engineering solutions to solve complex issues of today's electric grid and designing the grid of the future. This position is part of a dynamic planning team that performs transmission planning studies and related activities across Montana and South Dakota.

Learn about transmission systems and projects, modeling existing transmission lines and complete engineering analysis
Use Power Flow software (PSSE and Powerworld) to perform steady state power flow, fault duty analysis, and PV analysis Research materials and write corresponding reports
Contribute to a variety of study tasks assigned to Transmission Planning (e.g. interconnection studies, capacity studies, etc)
Participate in organizational work meetings

Engineering major required; Electrical Engineer major highly preferred
Knowledge about electric power and power flow analysis, preferred
Junior level or higher by start date
