Montana Tech Residence Hall Director in Butte, Montana

Residence Hall Director

DUTIES:

  • Administers the day to day operation for one-two residence halls including opening and closing

  • Assists with the recruitment, selection, and hiring of resident assistants (RAs)

  • Conduct weekly meetings with assigned RA staff and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings

  • P rovide training, development, support, and conduct evaluations of assigned RA staff

  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule, providing 24-hour support to students and responding to on-campus crises and/or incidents

  • Promote student development and assist students with their behavioral, emotional and psychological needs and make referrals as appropriate.

  • Engage in meaningful interactions with students

  • Manage residence hall programing plan, including managing the programming budget in assigned area

  • Coordinates with the Assistant Director regarding room changes, room inventories, damage billing, and room assignment

  • Process paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with all policies and procedures

  • Hold student conduct meetings and document through the Maxient Conduct system

  • Participate in divisional and campus committees as assigned

  • Represent the department in a courteous and professional manner

  • Assist the Director of Campus Life with duties as assigned including but not limited to new student orientation, and campus wide programming.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor?s Degree

  • Experience in residence life or student affairs

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated skills in supervision, programming, student advising, conflict mediation, and response to crisis situations

  • Demonstrated competence in written and oral communications.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to promote activities on a large scale

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master?s Degree (Preferably in student affairs, higher education, counseling, education, etc.)

  • Knowledge of student development theories

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must meet the physical requirements of the position, which includes the ability to move between and within the residence hall community.
