Logan Health Administrator - Logan Health Chester in Chester, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative management and operation of the facilities for assigned area(s). Provides leadership within an integrated critical access hospital, clinic assisted living facility and assigned ancillary service lines. Provides strategic collaboration and alignment with operations to implement the mission, vision, and values of the System. Accountabilities include quality of services; short and long-range planning with Regional President, local Board, and System to achieve goals and objectives; fiscal control; provider and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations; personnel management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in hospital administration, health, business, or public health preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ leadership experience required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in hospital administrative position with responsibility for administrative supervision.

  • Experience and knowledge of health care environment and trends, health care administration, and strategic practice required.

  • Experience developing, planning, and implementing programs on an organizational wide basis within established time frames or deadlines preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Strategic Execution

Drive organizational objectives by operationalizing changes and initiatives effectively and efficiently. Proactively anticipate both the needs of Logan Health and the impact operations has on the organization’s success. Collect and analyze data, prepare and present recommendations, and explain associated benefits and risks for improving operations.

Demonstrate and further develop competencies in the areas of leadership, financial management, employee engagement, human resources knowledge, organizational dynamics and governance, organizational communication, strategic planning, change management, risk management, compliance, patient safety and quality improvement. Job Specific Duties:

  • Understands the division of services provided by the System and those provided at the local organization. Delivers on responsibilities and expectations of assigned leadership and the System.

  • Participates with the local Board of Directors in the following capacities:

  • Evaluates the effect of external forces on the organization and works with the Regional President to recommend short-term and long-range plans that support the organization’s philosophy and general objectives.

  • Provides an administrator’s report to the local Board.

  • Assists in identifying potential local Board members.

  • Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing goals and objectives.

  • Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that ensure qualified and competent staff to provide care/ services.

  • Adheres to administrative policies and procedures relating to human resource management.

  • Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization and within the community. Builds an environment of shared commitment to the organization’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes. Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of practice.

  • Pursues formal and informal education in health care management.

  • Monitors the adequacy of the organization’s medical activities through coordination with the Regional President, Board, medical staff and nursing personnel, and the policies needed to ensure quality health care services.

  • Ensures organization operating stability by creating a work environment that is satisfactory to medical staff.

  • Promotes health care services that are produced in a cost-effective manner while maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Assures the sound fiscal operation of the organization including timely, accurate and comprehensive development of a realistic, cost-effective annual budget and its implementation.

  • Plans for capital equipment through the budget and obtains approvals for capital purchases through the Regional President. Plans the use of physical resources for the institution and ensures against physical damage.

  • Arranges contractual relationships with consultants, contractors, architects, etc., on behalf of the Regional President and local Board in planning and developing facilities, finances, and personnel programs.

  • Combines organizational resources to maximize quantity and/or quality to obtain results.

  • Ensures compliance and regulations of governing facilities and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the organization’s service delivery and initiating changes as required. Participates in litigation for the facilities and informs the Regional President of the need to initiate litigation.

  • Encourages the integration of the organization within the community by utilizing an effective communication and public relations program.

  • Listens to the auxiliary, staff, and volunteers to improve service and generate community involvement within the organization.

  • Speaks to community groups concerning health programs. Supports community education and awareness by conducting public education programs, participation in health fairs and other events.

  • Initiates, develops, and maintains cooperative relationships with the business community and with other facilities. Collaborates on fund-raising efforts.

  • Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.

  • Participates in evaluation, selection, and integration of health care technology and medical equipment that support quality of care/financial needs and the efficient use of resources.

  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
