Job Overview: */ /The Montana Veterans’ Home is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans’ Administration certified facility that has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. Admission is for honorably discharged veterans who qualify for skilled/intermediate nursing care or domiciliary self-care living. Spouses of veterans will be admitted on a space-available basis. This position is a custodian (housekeeper). The Housekeeper cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects all interior areas of the facility in the provision of a safe and clean environment for residents, staff and visitors.* Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities): A. Cleans and Disinfects Resident Rooms & Bathrooms. 40% · Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, fixtures, furniture, and floors using proper Housekeeping protocol and following recommended guidelines as prescribed by Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Veterans’ Administration (VA). · Empties garbage, restocks paper and soap supplies. · Cleans and disinfects other horizontal and vertical surfaces. B. Cleans and disinfects multi-use or commonly used areas. 30% · Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, fixtures, furniture, and floors in dining areas, lounges, kitchenettes, public bathrooms, bathing areas, staff rooms and activity areas using proper Housekeeping protocol and following recommended guidelines as prescribed by CMS and the VA. · Empties garbage, restocks paper and soap supplies. · Cleans and disinfect other horizontal and vertical surfaces. C. Cleans and disinfects flooring and carpeting. 20% · Cleans and disinfects all facility floors and carpets using proper Housekeeping protocol and following recommended guidelines as prescribed by CMS and the VA. D. Cleans and disinfect other assigned areas. 10% · Wash interior windows and screens. Clean and vacuum vents and light covers. Dust pictures, wall hangings, and blinds. · Cleans patios, exterior entrances, courtyards, service building and smoke buildings. · Cleans offices and storage areas. Physical and Environmental Demands: Must be able to operate commercial housekeeping equipment in a safe manner. Work closely with co-workers and maintain positive work relations. _Lift 40# rarely;Lift 30# occasionally;Lift 10# frequently;Push/Pull 25# occasionally;Push/Pull 10-15# frequently; Reach forward and below frequently._* Remain on feet (stand or walk) for extended periods of time on hard surface floors/carpet. Floor mopping, lifting, bending, climbing ladders, reaching, squatting, pushing and pulling. Exposure to odors, fumes, and noise from cleaning products/equipment. Possible exposure to verbal and physical abuse from residents.* *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors): Required for the first day of work: · Working knowledge of basic cleaning and sanitizing procedures. · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers/residents. · Ability to follow instructions. · Ability to effectively communicate with others. · Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment.
