Kalispell Regional Healthcare RN - Practice Clinical Lead - Family Health Care in Columbia Falls, Montana
This position works in coordination with leadership to ensure the work is accomplished effectively. Serves as first line support for staff and providers on service specific clinical issues. Assists the providers with the examination and treatment of patients and performs routine tasks required to ensure the practice runs smoothly. Participates in the planning and evaluation of patient care and services.
*Develops, implements and coordinates individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for RN’s in the practice setting.
*Maintains nursing standards of care and responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by: remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance as appropriate.
*Transcribes and implements Provider orders and treatments, both verbal and written, accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation. Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.
*Exhibits a thorough practice of infection control procedures to include, but may not be limited to; washing hands before and after each patient encounter, cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and maintaining ample supply of sterilized instruments and supplies for procedures, cleaning exam rooms, counters, and table tops, per practice policy.
*Performs clinical testing utilizing a variety of automated and non-automated techniques. Collects, packages, and accurately labels all specimens immediately upon receipt. Forwards to designated lab(s) according to established protocols.
*Provides individual instruction to patients and families concerning health and medical needs via telephone triage and/or patient visit.
*Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.
*Teaches and trains using principles of learning and effective methodologies.
*Clinical Staff of Physician practices have administrative responsibilities that include, but are not limited to the following:
Greets patients and escorts to the exam procedure rooms.
Triages patient telephone calls and provides education.
Makes appointments for patients with specialist; schedules hospital admissions, outside ancillary tests and procedures as directed.
Assists administrative staff in all clinically/medically related phone calls.
Retrieves prescription calls off voicemail per office protocol.
Assists in pulling charts, filing, telephone answering, and other duties needed to provide better customer service.
*Lead may be expected to perform one (1) or more of the following tasks regularly:
Creates work schedule and assigns employees to specific work tasks.
Trains or coordinates the training of employees.
Oversees and coordinates successful completion of employees’ competency assessments and required training.
Acts as point-of-contact/subject matter expert for employee questions about expectations and processes.
Assists in interviewing job candidates.
Leads or coordinates compliance and quality efforts.
Other duties as assigned at the discretion of management, excluding issuing corrective actions or administering performance evaluations.

Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; BSN degree preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in similar position with a medical setting (eg, physician office, clinic, or hospital).
Knowledge of professional nursing theory to administer and evaluate patient care, basic medical office procedures and medical terminology.
Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR, ACLS, and/or BLS certification required as dictated by each practice/service line.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office, simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions.
Must have knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items, restriction imposed by various manage care carriers, various forms inherent to profession.
Understanding of the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to HIPAA guidelines.
