Logan Health Life Enrichment Aide - Extended Care - Conrad, MT in Conrad, Montana

Job Description Summary:

The Life Enrichment Aide works cooperatively with the Life Enrichment Manager in organizing, maintaining and conducting a program of meaningful life enriching activities, both group and individual, appropriate to the individual preferences/needs and interest/ability of each resident. This position is a member of the Extended Care team that provides services and care to residents.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (other job related experience/s and applicable licenses are helpful but not mandatory)

Technical Skills: 1. Auditory and visual ability to observe daily living needs of residents.2. Ability to execute multiple tasks with minimal supervision.3. Ability to handle stressful situations competently, effectively and courteously.4. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language effectively.5. Basic to intermediate computer skills used for documentation and correspondence.

Other qualifications/certificate/license required: Current BLS certification and current State of Montana Driver’s License without restrictions.

DECISION MAKING LATITUDEEmployee works independently while supervised by the Life Enrichment Manager, who is under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. Questions and direction are primarily referred to the immediate supervisor the: Life Enrichment Manager. When applicable as directed the: Resident Care Coordinator, Registered Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing or Nursing Home Administrator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1. The Life Enrichment Aide will, in cooperation with the Life Enrichment Manager assess residents’ individual activity needs (care plans) to include being accountable to organize, conduct and assist with a wide variety of programming that involves: stimulation, sensory and calming activities, specific to the individual needs/and preferences of the resident. This will require coverage over weekends, holidays, and events. 2. Document resident status and daily activity involvement, as reflected in resident records and care plans. Also enters documentation regarding the resident into the electronic system on a routine or daily basis and updates care plans accordingly.3. Works with the Manager as part of the multidisciplinary team participating in and identifying ways to improve the personalized quality of care being provided to the resident. Participates in holiday festivities: preparations, event and cleanup; engages in the resident lives through: music/pets/birds/fish/gardening, etc. Organizes supplies and develops or prepares and executes a variety of events and programming to include: crafts/games/activities and introduces innovative resident participation for cognitive and or sensory stimulation/prepares the refreshments needed for coffee and other socials/ parties and events to include set up and cleanup.4. In conjunction with the Life Enrichment Manager, the Life Enrichment Aide will interact with families/entertainers/ ministers/volunteers for worship services, devotionals and other volunteers who cover a wide spectrum of needs and will engage with the Extended Care Auxiliary.5. Delivers mail/newspapers/magazines/packages to residents and assists with reading resident mail and/or Social Media: such as email/Facebook messages as needed/Skype, Zoom, FaceTime with families as requested.6. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team interdepartmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. 7. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment to include the “kitchen” and crafting, storage and outside/greenhouse areas. 8. Include Residents in basic daily duties including, not limited to: decorating and changing the environment/bulletin boards/dining room and hall decorations. 9. Distributes monthly Life Enrichment activity calendars to the residents and other departments; assists with the needs and cares for all facility pets and plants. Assists with the monthly mailings to include the newsletters/calendars and other notices as applicable.10. Assists with the transporting of residents specific to using PMC transportation vehicles (currently the 15-person, 2-wheelchair transportation by van/bus/surrey and/or the minivan. When applicable, will be responsible for driving and securement.11. Completes annual education and mandatory trainings, including outings and transportation.12. Other related duties as required and assigned.

Schedule Details:

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.

Schedule: A varying schedule that includes Sunday through Saturday and a half-hour lunch break. The Life Enrichment department will be required to adjust scheduled hours to include some nights and all weekends and most holidays, with special hours to accommodate job responsibilities.
