PONDERA MEDICAL CENTER Radiology Technologist in CONRAD, Montana

Under the direction of the department manager/lead technologist, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to ensure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients. Must be competent in performing all radiologic exams, and competent with, or willing to learn, all Computerized Tomography (CT) exams. Must have a working knowledge of computers and be proficient with or willing to learn a Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Required to rotate call with other imaging staff members.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Education/Experience: Must be a graduate of an approved two year Radiography program with six months to be fully trained. Technical Skills:1.Anatomy2.Strong analytical and organizational skills required.3.Ability to execute multiple tasks with minimal supervision.4.Able to interact with a variety of individuals and situations competently, effectively, and courteously.Other qualifications/certificate/license:Must possess ARRT certification; current State of Montana license; maintain current CMES.Job Responsibilities:JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1.Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. 2.Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic procedures. 3.Talks to the patient to explain what the procedure entails. 4.Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert radiologist, nurses and/or providers to possible contradictions for procedure. 5.Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam and documents in PACS for radiologist. 6.Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information (views), as evidenced by films taken. 7.Operate radiographic equipment within the department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (A.L.A.R.A.) standards. 8.Understands basic operations of PACS and digital imaging modalities.9.Maintains radiographic equipment and X-ray rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel. 10.Verification of information and exams performed, using computer system immediately after completing exams.11.Updates all data on PACS System.12.Updates and changes exams description to reflect actual exams performed when verifying to ensure correct billing of patient accounts.13.Ensures proper data is in PACS.14.Other duties as required or assigned 15.Basic computer skills.
