TOWN OF EKALAKA Assistant Public Works Director in EKALAKA, Montana

Assists with water and sewer projects and daily operations, street and park maintenance, pool operation, and other duties as assigned. The scope of work for this position tends to be very broad. Duties include: Assists with the maintenance of a comprehensive water/sewer system to assure services are being provided at the highest quality level and consistent with Town Council policy and state and federal regulations; responsible for safe, efficient and effective operations; Responds to public works emergencies (water breaks, sewer plugs, and natural disasters.) In the event the water/sewer superintendent is not available - will be responsible to organize and supervise crews during such emergencies; Works as a substitute and assists the transfer site attendant as needed; Assists with street maintenance; and is responsible for maintaining all street and regulatory signage; Performs maintenance of Town Parks; Assists with the start up and maintenance of the swimming pool and in the absence of the water/sewer superintendent, supervises pool employees; Uses proper safety equipment and procedures to prevent injury; Deals calmly with irate individuals and receives citizens' complaints and inquiries and reports them to the appropriate town official. Position may involve irregular work hours and weekends and being available during emergencies which may occur any time of day or night. Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, valid Montana Driver's license, experience in operating heavy equipment and experience in general maintenance and repair including plumbing. Employment shall be contingent upon results of a background check and drug and alcohol testing. Licensing as a Water Distribution Operator, Wastewater System Operator, Water Treatment Operator, Certified Pool Operator, and Commercial Driver (CDL) would need to be obtained within one year of employment. Wage will depend on experience.
