CITY OF GLASGOW Code Compliance Officer in GLASGOW, Montana

City of Glasgow is hiring a Code Compliance Officer.The prospective candidate will assist the Director of Public Works to administer, coordinate and implement programs and activities within the Public Works Department including, but not limited to; monitoring and enforcement of city codes (i.e. lot regulations, zoning codes, Right-of-Way permits, fence ordinances etc.) building codes, ordinance regulation, permitting, department safety, inspection, reporting, facility and infrastructure maintenance, environmental reporting, traffic control, water and waste water data management and reporting, assisting with public works projects and programs as directed. This position will be under the supervision of the Director of Public Works. This position will require attendance of certain public meetings, some council meetings and various committee meetings as required. Regular annual work training and CECs will be required.Minimum qualifications: Associate?s degree (AS, AA, or AAS) or equivalent from a two-year college with an associate degree in public administration, building construction technology, engineering technology, pre-architecture, or appropriately related field. A college degree is required, supplemented by technical and vocational courses and at least five years of relevant experience in Municipal Public Works, DOT, Building Inspection / Codes, Engineering, RPR Inspection, or Architectural training. Applicant must possess a valid Montana Class D Driver's License. Applicant must be professional, have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with employees, city officials, the public. Must be proficient with a computer and be able to professionally write letters, by use of Microsoft Word and work Excel programs for simple spreadsheets. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree (BA, BSB, BAS, BAAS, BBA, BSPA, or BGS) or equivalent from a four-year college with a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Criminal Justice, Business, or other appropriately related field. Minimum of two years municipal public works or closely related experience is required. Applicants should have a basic understanding of public administration, building construction or civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to construction in a municipal setting. Skill in various layout tools, construction inspection tools, and office equipment.
